Dual and center consoles are some of the more popular boat models on the market today. If you’re tempted to buy one of these popular boats, take a look at our helpful pros and cons list below to discover which one is right for you!

Dual Console 

Pros

The first thing you’ll notice about a dual console boat is how big they are! These vessels are primarily used out on the ocean and their large size provides added stability in rough water. Because of their size, there’s also quite a bit of available seating on these boats. As a result, these models have become extremely popular among beachgoers and families who want to lounge in the sun or cruise across the waves with large parties. 

Cons

Because of all that extra seating, layouts on these boats can feel a bit cramped. While it shouldn’t hinder you from walking from one end of the boat to the other, if available space is important to you, a dual console may not be the right choice. 

Center Console 

Pros

While dual console models are more popular among families and large groups, center console boats are a hit with fishermen. Because their only console is placed in the center of the boat, it’s easy to cast off from every side, or even have multiple lines in the water at once. These boats are also incredibly spacious! No matter how big or small your model is, there's always plenty of room to walk from one side of your boat to the other. Speaking of sizes, these boats come in a wide range! As a result, there are plenty of options available to suit your budget, no matter how small it may be. 

Cons

While these boats are spacious, there often isn’t a ton of available seating. While you should have enough spots to bring several passengers along, if you have a large group in mind you may need to think of some alternatives. While deck chairs are helpful, they can get in the way, and take up some of that valuable walking space.
